      Abstract
      The backgrounds of the study are many questions appear from the lecturers at ELED of PUY and teachers at school. The second background is the students felt confuse to create lesson plan. The last background is the rules of school should be obeyed. This study aims to find out pre-service teachers perception on their internship program at English Language Education Department in batch 2016. The objectives of this study were to find out the difficulties in doing internship program and the strategies to overcome the difficulties at English Language Education Department of Private University in Yogyakarta (ELED of PUY) in batch 2016. The researcher used qualitative method to collect the data. The participants were two male and one female students of English Language Education Department of one private Islamic university in Yogyakarta in batch 2016. The data were gathered through interviews. The finding of this study found that the participants have difficulties in doing internship program, which were the difficulty to create lesson plan, the difficulty to understand teacher’s explanation, the difficulty to adjust the schedule, the difficulty to reach the location, the difficulty to handle the students, and the last not enough guidance from teacher. The last result is strategies to overcome the difficulties. The strategies are creating evaluation tools, paying more attention and asking friends, keeping a good communication with teacher, motivating themselves, adjusting to the environment, and the last is doing the task and asking friend. The strategies mentions are based on data from participants and related to the difficulties.
