This article aims to elaborate the dynamics of progressive Islam of Muhammadiyah. It is well-known among the Indonesians that Muhammadiyah, which was born on 18th November 1918, has contributed to the Islamisation process in Indonesia. Muhammadiyah movement is recognized for its popular amar ma’ruf nahi munkar model of dakwah for community using the Wasahtiyah Islam (moderate Islam). The Wasathiyah (moderate Islam) has similar ideas to progressive Islam of Muhammadiyahwithin Indonesian context.
