      Abstract
This journal thesis will explain how Muhammadiyah University Yogyakarta Drum Corps as a cultural diplomacy actor to raise Indonesian strategic positition in Asia. Diplomacy is the effort of a country or nation to fight for national interests among the international community, in this case diplomacy is defined not as bergaining, but all efforts to foreign relations. Indonesian diplomacy always uses a soft power diplomacy approach in dealing with various international and regional issues. Military power is not an option in Indonesia's free and active foreign policy, because it is this power approach that the role of Indonesia in the international environment, especially in some regions, is always taken into account. In this case the author uses the artistic component to make cultural diplomacy efforts specifically using the art of music and the choreography of the marching band as a tool to improve Indonesia's strategic position in the view of the international community. The development of marching bands in the world has started to develop rapidly and can be used as a benchmark for the progress of a nation's civilization, besides that an international race of marching bands between countries and nations has also been frequently done especially in the Asian region. Drum Corps of the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta uses the opportunity of the international marching band championship as a medium of cultural diplomacy to enhance Indonesia's strategic position in the Asian region.
