      Abstract
      Reading comprehension is a crucial component in learning process. The students often complain not understand a text so that they fail in answering to the comprehensive questions. Many scholars and teachers make research on undergraduates reading strategies of English major. However, non-English major students often neglected. It was imperative to make a study among non-English major in order to get the information of their reading strategies and give useful suggestions to them. That way, this study aimed to find out the difficulties faced by non-English department students in comprehending English text and the strategies implemented to overcome the difficulties. This study adopted descriptive qualitative as a research design. There were four students of non- English major who became the participants of this research. In the data collection method of this study, it adopted interview guide approach. The interview data were analyzed by coding. Based on the analysis, there were several difficulties faced by non-English department students in comprehending English text such as unfamiliar words, grammar, and text type. Additionally, this study presented several strategies to overcome the difficulties namely using dictionary, taking notes, guessing, asking someone, internet browsing, and writing summary.
