KOMUNIKASI DALAM PELAYANAN KANKER: PERSPEKTIF PERAWAT, PASIEN DAN KELUARGA
Abstract
Communication is a major component in cancer
care, however communication of nurses-cancer patients and
families is still recognized as an ongoing challenge and issue for
both nurses and patients or families. The purpose of this study is to
explore nurses, cancer patients, and family perspectives on
communication in cancer care.
Method: This study used a qualitative method with an
interpretative phenomenological approach. Sixteen participants (4
nurses, 7 cancer patients, and 5 family members) were selected
through purposive sampling and conducted semi-structured
interview about communication ini cancer care. Data of all
interviews were transcribed and analyzed using the Colaizzi
method.
Results: The study found 6 main themes namely building a
compassionate relationship, maintaining hope, family
involvement, availability of information and direction, discussion
about spiritual, and communication management in cancer care.
Conclusion: Communication in cancer care aims to maintain hope
and be family involvement by building a compassionate
relationship, promoting spiritual discussion and providing
information about cancer and its treatment.
