PERILAKU CARING KELUARGA PADA LGBT: STUDI FENOMENOLOGI FOKUS PADA LELAKI SUKA LELAKI (LSL) DENGAN HIV/AIDS
Abstract
Background: MSM with HIV/AIDS needs care from close related person. The
appropriate and continue care can not be separated from knowledge about
caring. Caring will be more meaningful due to the role of family. Good family
acceptance can improve self-esteem, social support and MSM’s health status
also protect MSM from depression, risk of abuse, risk of suicide and others
negative behavior that experienced by MSM. Method: Qualitative with the
phenomenology approach becomes the design of this study. The study subjects
were determined through purposive sampling and there were five informants
because they had reached data saturation. The principle of credibility,
dependability, comformability and transferbility is applied in this study.
Qualitative data analysis uses a strategy from Collaizi. Results: There were
117 meaningful statements, 43 categories, 17 sub-themes and six themes that
formed the phenomenon of family caring behavior towards MSM. The themes
that formed the essence of family caring behavior towards LGBT-MSM are
MSM as sexual orientation choice, heavy conditions experienced by MSM,
family acceptance process, MSM with HIV/AIDS’s hopes essence of family
caring behavior that done by the family and caring behavior that done by the
family.
Conclusion: There are six themes in qualitative research about the
phenomenon of family caring behavior towards MSM with HIV/AIDS. An
understanding of this phenomenon is needed by families in supporting the
survival of MSM with HIV/AIDS for better quality of health. Collaboration
among nurses, other health workers and the government is needed to achieve a
holistic nursing process.
