      Abstract
      Background: Caring for people with schizophrenia is certainly not as easy as thought, the emergence of burdens and some of the adverse effects felt by the family will have an impact on the emotional aspects of the family and the treatment process provided. Spiritual support can be one of the choices and can be done by the family to help in optimizing the care support given to people with schizophrenia. Objective: This study aimed to explore family experiences in providing spiritual support to people with schizophrenia. Method: This study is a qualitative research with a descriptive phenomenological approach. The selection of informants used a purposive sampling method which amounted to 7 (seven) informants. Data collection uses semi-structured interview methods. Results: The results of this study indicate that family experience in providing spiritual support to people with schizophrenia in South Kalimantan received 6 (six) themes namely a) local culture-based spiritual beliefs, b) gratitude and trust, c) family acceptance, d) constraints in giving spiritual support, e) complete support, f) hope for recovery. Conclusion: Families acting as caregivers are the main source of spiritual support given to people with schizophrenia. For families by utilizing spiritual support they are able to survive in any condition, be more grateful, trustful, have enthusiasm and are always prejudiced towards Allah SWT
