| dc.description | Background: The media in providing information includes news of mental disorders that contain stigma, using false stereotypes, and negative depictions of mental disorders that tend to link mental disorders with violence, crime, dangerous, and unpredictable.
Objective: This study aims to analyze and obtain understanding media framing about mental disorders in the online news and Instagram.
Design: A qualitative research with case studies approach. This research uses thematic analysis. The data used is an online newspaper and Instagram caption with username “Info Cegatan Jogja”. Kedaulatan Rakyat Newspaper published in the last 5 years and ICJ caption uploaded in the last 1 year.
Results: Consists of 43 online news and 20 Instagram captions that have been analyzed to produce 5 main themes, namely (1) Title That Encourages Readers' Interests (2) Alleged Lay Perspectives (3) Suicide as a Choice (4) Efforts to Humanize ODGJ (5) Stigma Against ODGJ.
Conclusion: Five themes identified. Suicide as a person's choice to end life. Strange behavior includes exhibitionism and froteurism. | en_US |
