      Abstract
      This paper explain about the efforts and obstacles experienced by GAMCOTRAP to eradicate the practice of Female Genital Mutilation in Gambia. Where this practices is considered to be very detrimental in terms of women’s health and safety as well as violating human rights. By using their advocacy strategies namely symbolic politics, leverage politics and also using local-self reliance is considered effective in stopping FGM practices in Gambia until finally in 2015 Female Genital Mutilation officially has been banned until now
