      Abstract
Background : The prevailing situation in Indonesia now is a discrepancy between the number of nurses on duty and the number of patients treated. Various research results show that the workload of nurses in hospitals is very influential on the performance of a nurse. Either high or low workload will greatly affect the performance of the nurse, and there is no exception for nurses in ICU RS PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping. Method : This research is a causal associative research, which investigates the influence between quantitative, qualitative, and combination workload on nurse performance in ICU chamber through multiple regression tests. Result and Discussion : Quantitative workload, qualitative workload, and combination workload simultaneously did not have a significant effect on nurses' performance in ICU RS PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping, which was shown by the F count (2,900) <F table (3,806) and significance (p value (0,079) ≥ 0.05). Partially, the combined workload gives a significant influence on nurse's performance which is shown by tcount value (2,213)> t-table (2,179) and significance (p value (0,047) ≤ 0,05), while the other workload quantitative and qualitative work has no significant effect on nurse performance, as indicated by the respective xviii value of t-hit (-0.672), (0,994) <t-table (2,179) and significance (p value (0,515), 0.340) ≥ 0.05). Some factors that cause good nurse performance are balance of ratio of nurse number and number of patient, conducive working environment condition, and good team cooperation in improvement of nursing service in ICU room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital. Conclusion : It is necessary to maintain the quality of existing services in providing nursing care to patients in the ICU.
