      Abstract
      Healthy skin is very important for humans, but still many people often ignore and underestimate the skin disease. The cause of skin disease in Indonesia is often caused by bacterial, fungal, viral, and because of allergies. One is a skin disease causing bacteria Staphylococcus aureus are frequently encountered in tropical areas. While one of the fungi that cause skin disease is Trichophyton rubrum. The compound 1-(2,5-dihidroksifenil)-(3-pyridine-2-il)-propenon is kalkon derived compounds known to possess a wide range of activities some of which such as antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antiplatelet agents, antimalarial, antiviral, and antioxidant This research is an experimental laboratory of the antibacterial and antifungal effects of the compound 1-(2,5-dihidroksifenil)-(3-pyridine-2-il)-propenon on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria using disc diffusion method and Trichophyton rubrum using wells diffusion method. The concentration of the compound 1- (2,5-dihidroksifenil)-(3-pyridine-2-il)-propenon used is 1%, 1.5% and 2%, with clindamycin and ketoconazole as a positive control, and DMSO as a negative control. Results from this study is the compound 1-(2,5-dihidroksifenil)-(3-pyridine-2-il)-propenon have inhibitory to Staphylococcus aureus with an average diameter of 4.9 mm (1%), 5.1 mm (1.5%) and 5.5 mm (2%). The compound 1- (2,5-dihidroksifenil)-(3-pyridine-2-il)-propenon not inhibit the growth of Trichophyton rubrum, characterized by the formation of a clear zone around the wells.
