      Abstract
The presence of porosity on the base of acrylic resin denture gives rise to surface roughness and is able to absorb liquid so it forms on the base of acrylic resin denture. Candida albicans is able to attach to the base of denture plaque and cause denture stomatitis. To avoid denture stomatitis, by immersing the denture into a cleaning solution that comes from traditional plants. Traditional plants such as black cumin and betel leaf. Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the antifungal strength of black cumin extract and green betel leaf extract on Candida albicans on the basis of acrylic resin dentures. Method: This type of research is an experimental laboratory. Treatment group 1 used negative control with distilled water, treatment group 2 used 0.25% concentrated black cumin extract, while treatment group 3 used 50% green betel leaf extract. Each test group immersed 9 pieces of acrylic resin discs for 8 hours. After 8 hours the calculation of the number of colonies was analyzed and the results were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test to compare the differences in the average ratings between the two test groups. Results: There was no significant difference in mean ratings between the number of Candida albicans colonies in the treatment group of black cumin extract concentration of 0.25% with green betel leaf extract concentration of 50%. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study it was found that black cumin extract was no more effective in inhibiting the growth of Candida albicans on the basis of acrylic resin denture compared to green betel leaf extract.
