dc.description.abstract | Whitening cream is a mixture of active substances and other additives that can be used to brighten the skin so that the skin turns white. Mercury is one of the whitening ingredients that can cause health problems when absorbed into the tissue more than 1 mg / Kg (1 ppm). This study aims to determine whether there is a mercury content and how much mercury is contained in the cream. Bleachers that do not have BPOM numbers circulate in the market in the Banjarnegara district.
This research was conducted with purposive sampling and samples were obtained from Banjarnegara as many as 21 samples. The qualitative analysis method uses the Potassium Iodide color reaction test and amalgam formation with copper rods. Quantitative analysis using the Cold Vapor Mercury Analyzer with a wavelength of 253.7 nm.
The results obtained from this study were 3 positive samples containing mercury with qualitative analysis using KI. Quantitative analysis showed that there were 3 samples containing mercury, namely samples number 12, 15 and 17 with average levels of 0.04217 mg / Kg (ppm), 0.01814 mg / Kg (ppm), and 0.91000 mg / Kg (ppm). These results indicate that 3 whitening creams are still safe to use because the levels do not exceed those set by BPOM which is 1 mg / Kg (ppm). | en_US |
