Last decade, shows that orthodontic treatment is very commonly needed to produce teeth with good function and aesthetics on the face. Orthodontic treatment aims to support dental and oral hygiene, improve the function of mastication, phonetics, and aesthetics. The law of correcting teeth with ortodontik treatment in an Islamic perspective can be known based on its purpose. First, if you correct your teeth with just aesthetic purposes, they are included in the category of changing God's creation and are forbidden. Meanwhile, if you want to correct your teeth with medical indications and health reasons and improve the function is permitted. However, if dental malocclusion does not affect the function and only interferes with the appearance of ortodontik care, it should not be done. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of knowledge on orthodontic treatment according to Islam in Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta dentistry students. The method of this research is descriptive observational with cross sectional design, with a total sample of 100 respondents with inclusion criteria for active dentistry students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta class of 2015 until the 2018 period for the 2018/2019 academic year, Islam, willing to be voluntary participants. The results showed that the level of knowledge of ortodontik treatment according to Islam had a good level of knowledge with a percentage of 91%. The results of the questionnaire were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis, namely frequency distribution presented in the form of tables or narrative forms. The conclusion of this study is that dental students have a good knowledge of ortodontik treatment according to Islam.
