      Abstract
      Objective: Tori are defined as normal variation in the oral cavity that showed like convex bone, torus palatinus (TP) and torus mandibula (TM) are the most kinds of oral tori. The occurrenced is relatively multifactorial, where there is an interaction of genetic and environmental factors. The purpose of this study was to determine the general description and prevalence of torus palatinus and torus mandibula in dental students of Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta. Subjects and Methods: The research is a kind of observational descriptive with cross sectional design. The sample that used was dental students who includes the inclusion criteria with a total sample of 368 students. Results: Overall prevalence of TP and TM was 55,71%. The prevalence of TP was 82,93%, TM was 6,83% and students with both TP and TM was 10,24%. The study observed that prevalence of TP and TM in females was 87,31% and males was 12,69%. The shape and location of TP and TM was observed, it was found that lobular shape was more prevalent in TP and bilateral location was more prevalent in TM. Conclusions: The higher prevalance of oral tori is TP. This study also recorded higher prevalence of oral tori among females. Due to higher prevalence of oral tori among shape of TP is lobular and location of TM is lobular.
