      Abstract
Determination of facial type is one of the important procedures in determining orthodontic diagnosis even though it does not provide a complete account of the craniofacial bone. Analysis of face type can show the relationship of variations in facial parts so that clinicians are easier to identify the possibility of malrelation that occurs. The success of an orthodontic treatment can be assessed based on the stability of treatment outcomes. One thing that affects stability is the success of maintaining the shape of the dental arch. Differences in the shape and dimensions of dental arches can affect clinical care. Everyone has a variety of dental arches, so doctors must estimate the amount of space available, stability, dental aesthetics, prospects for tooth growth and development in treating all cases. This study was an observational analytic study with respondents from all Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta University dentistry students in the 2015 class of Java tribe totaling 41 people. The results of this study state that the face shape of Leptoprosop has a tappered (narrow) dental arch shape of 29 subjects with a percentage of 70.7%. Mesoprosop's face shape has a tappered (narrow) dental arch as many as 6 subjects with a percentage of 14.6%.
