PERBEDAAN TINGKAT DEPRESI PENDERITA TUBERKULOSIS (TB) PADA FASE INTENSIF DAN FASE LANJUTAN DI SLEMAN
Abstract
Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is still a threat to the global health problems. Nearly a third of the population in the world is infected with TB, whom in the age of economically productive in 15-50 years old. TB can heal for 6-8 months treatment, but if the patient does not routinely treated, the TB bacteria will become immune and need up to 2 years for a treatment process to break the spread of the disease and prevent recurrence. Duration of the treatment is not only affects the physical health of TB patients, but also psychological, economic and social relationships thus makes TB Patients are very prone to depression. The factors that cause of depression among TB patients are psycho-social factors, psycho-analytic factors and psycho-dynamic factors.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the differences in the rates of depression among TB patients in the intensive phase and the advanced phase in Sleman.
Methode: This type of research is non-experimental research with comparative study design and cross sectional approach. The sample in this study were 54 people. The instrument for the level of depression in this study used BDI-II. Data analysis using Chi Square test to determine significant differences between two variables.
Result: The results of the analysis of differences in the rates of depression of TB patients in the intensive phase and the advanced phase, obtained a significant value of 0.599 (p>0.05). This shows that there is no difference in the rate of depression of TB patients in the intensive phase and the advanced phase.
Conclusion: There is no difference in the level of depression of patients with Tuberculosis (TB) in the intensive phase and the advanced phase in Sleman.
