      Abstract
      Shallot is susceptible crop to Spodoptera exigua causing crop failure by 45% to 57% for low attacks and severe attacks can cause crop failure up to 100%. One method that can improve plant resistance is to use silica nutrients sourced from nano rice husk ash. The aims of this study was to determine the method of applying nano husk ash fertilizer on shallot to increas the growth, yield, and resistance of red onion plant from Spodoptera exigua. The research conducted used a single factor experiment arranged in completely randomized design with several types fertilizer application method. The treatments that is control, placement, foliar application,and seed coating with tri replication. Variables ware observed characteristics of nano rice husk ash, plant resistance, plant growth and plant yield . The data were analyzed by using analysis of variance at a= 5%. The results showed that shallot which are given nano rice husk ash are more resistant to Spodoptera exigua attack when compared to the control shown on the parameters of crop damage and pest mortality. Furthermore, the foliar method is the most effective treatment to increase the growth and yield of shallot plants affected by Spodoptera exigua.
