Abstract
Periodontitis is an infection that causes damage to periodontal tissue. Untreated alveolar bone damage will cause tooth loss. Carbonat Hidroxyapatite as a scaffold to replace bone damage. Bone damage caused by infection requires the presence of antibacterial to support bone regeneration. The purpose of this study is to look at the effect between the administrations of Carbonat Hidroxyapatite with Carbonat Hidroxyapatite that has been loaded with human beta defensin-3 on healing periodontitis seen in collagen density. Methods: This study was a laboratory experimental using Sparaque Dawley rat as a subject with periodontitis in mandibular incisors. Subjects were divided into two groups, namely Carbonat Hidroxyapatite implantation group and Carbonat Hidroxyapatite groups, which were loaded with Human Beta Defensin-3, then the subjects were subjected to serial decapitation on days 7, 14, 21 and 28. The Histological examination was made by Mallory. Results: This study showed an increase in collagen density in the healing process, denser collagen density in the Carbonat Hidroxyapatite treatment loaded with human beta defensin-3.Conclusion: Denser collagen density was found in the Carbonate Hydroxyapatite treatment loaded with human beta defensin-3.
