Abstract
Tissue regeneration is one of the most important goals in periodontal treatment. Carbonate Hydroxyapatite (CHA) is a synthetic scaffold that can help bone healing process after a periodontal treatment. One of the main problem that can cause a failure in periodontal surgery is bacterial reinfection. In this case, bacterial control and bacterial elimination are very important. Chlorhexidine (CHX) is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial that works as an antiseptic that effectively kills various types of microbes including bacteria, fungi and virus. The combination of CHA membranes with antimicrobial CHX is expected to reduce the reinfection of periodontal treatment that caused by microbes. The aim of this study is to determine the ability of CHA membrane to load and release antimicrobials, in this study CHX.
