      Abstract
      This study discusses the management of anxiety and uncertainty experienced by expatriate students who came from Bali in the process of cultural adaptation when studying at tertiary institutions in Yogyakarta. Their purpose in coming to Yogyakarta is to improve their quality of self and education so that they become a better person. A new environment with a different culture will stimulate the feelings of anxiety of the overseas students, thus causing an adaptation process. Mindful situations can help create effective intercultural communication. At this stage mindful situations can be achieved by having communication skills, including having good personality strength, good communication skills, psychological adjustment, and cultural awareness. In the research process using the method of in-dept interview by face to face by adjusting the source based on location and time. Based on research that has been done shows that overseas students from Bali can manage the anxiety and uncertainty they experience when the process of cultural adaptation in their new environment by having a good self-concept, increasing self-confidence, establishing relationships with people in their environment and understanding culture and the environment in Yogyakarta. Different cultural and environmental characteristics do not cause trauma monitor students to establish communication with their environment.
