      Abstract
Background: Suicide is a very global public health problem and is said to be the third leading cause of death in the world. Suicidal behavior encompasses several types including suicidal ideation or thoughts of suicide, planning, attempting suicide and the act of suicide itself. Individuals who are not able to control stress will make it destructive and commit suicide. Spirituality becomes an important part of life for individual decision making. Spirituality is known to inhibit individuals who have suicidal ideas and increase their life expectancy. The purpose of this study was to determine the spiritual experiences of individuals with suicidal behavior. Methods: This study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The informants in this study are individuals who are willing to be interviewed are those who have suicidal behavior in Yogyakarta Special Region. Results: The results of the study found 4 themes, namely 1) taking wisdom from the past, 2) getting support from others, 3) "someday shining", 4) building a relationship with God Conclusion: Spiritual experiences not only describe the relationship of individuals with God, however, it explains an individual's attachment or relationship with himself, relationship with others, relationship with the environment, and his relationship with God. The theme in this study is one of the propective factors (including spirituality) of one's suicidal behavior. These themes illustrate that someone with a previous suicidal behavior can escape from this behavior by taking wisdom from the past, support from within themselves, other people, as well as from the high power he believes in, namely God.
