DISCRIMINATION BEHAVIOR IN PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV / AIDS (PLWHA) AGAINST COMPLIANCE ANTIRETROVIRAL TREATMENT (ARV) IN YOGYAKARTA
Abstract
HIV / AIDS is a health problem in the world, because the number of sufferers is increasing from year to year. As there are many cases of HIV / AIDS, people with HIV / AIDS are receiving antiretroviral treatment regimens (ARVs) to inhibit the rate of the virus and the development of the disease. The success of antiretroviral treatment regimens is determined by the high compliance of PLWHA in undergoing a treatment regimen. Compliance with PLWHA in undergoing antiretroviral treatment regimens can be influenced by discriminatory behavior towards PLWHA. The purpose of this study is to identify discriminatory behavior in people with HIV / AIDS towards adherence to antiretroviral (ARV) treatment in Yogyakarta. This research uses qualitative method with phenomenology approach. Data collection was done with interview and observation. Participants totaling seven people were determined by purposive sampling. The validity of the data used source triangulation and checked the data back to the participants. Analysis of data were by comparing among categories, marking and describing descriptively. The results show that discriminatory behavior from health workers and from the environment around PLWHA does not affect PLWHA compliance during ARV treatment
