      Abstract
      Family support needed to provide physical and psychological comfort someone when experiencing pain. Family support was very important for the survival of patients with DM, so with good family support, the quality of life of people with diabetes will be good. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship of family support for quality of life of patients with DM. Methods: This research was a quantitative research with cross sectional design.The sampling technique used accidental sampling.The samples were 104 respondents who are family's patient with DM and patient with DM at RS PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Unit II. This research was conduct in 18thApril- 24thMay 2016 at RS PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Unit II. Hypothesis analysis used chi-square 2x2. Result: Most of the age patient DM average was adult middle, income < Rp. 750.000,00 and Rp. 750.000,00 - Rp. 1.452.400,00, suffered of DM since six years. Family's patient with DM most of the average age middle adult, had the child's relationship with DM patient, female. Family support in RS PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Unit II most of good category was 42 respondents (80,8%). Most of quality of life bad category with 37 respondents (71,2%). There was a relationship between family support and quality of life of people with DM (p = 0.046). The power of relationship was weak (cramer’s v = 0,311) Conclusion:There was a relationship between family support for quality of life of patients with DM. Suggestion:Family support related quality of life of patients with DM. Nurse should involve family's patient with DM into delivery of nursing. Future studies should examine the analysis of the most affect factors quality of life of patients with DM and did research in 1 class and VIP in a hospital
