      Abstract
      This research was related to the role of guidance and counseling teacher to solve the problems of students grade X with Islamic methods at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) II Yogyakarta and Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Wonokromo Bantul. It aimed to: (1) Find out the role of guidance and counseling teacher at MAN II Yogyakarta and MAN Wonokromo Bantul, (2) Find out how the guidance and counseling practices were conducted at MAN II Yogyakarta and MAN Wonokromo Bantul, (3) Find out the approach used in the practice guidance and counseling by the teachers, and (4) Find out the problems of students grade X at MAN II Yogyakarta and MAN Wonokromo Bantul. This research was a qualitative research and was conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) II Yogyakarta and MAN Wonokromo Bantul. The research subjects included: (a) Guidance and counseling teacher of MAN II Yogyakarta and MAN Wonokromo Bantul and (b) the students grade X at MAN II Yogyakarta and MAN Wonokromo Bantul. The data were collected through in-depth analysis, documentation, and observation .The data were then analyzed and described, therefore the research was a descriptive analysis research. The result found out that the role of guidance and counseling teachers at MAN II Yogyakarta and MAN Wonokromo Bantul was in accordance with comprehensive pattern. The practices of guiding and counseling by the teachers were conducted incidentally and as planned. The methods implemented both by MAN II Yogyakarta and MAN Wonokromo were General Principles of Guidance and Counseling (GPGC) and Islamic Guidance and Counseling (IGC). The problems occurred at MAN II Yogyakarta and MAN Wonokromo Bantul were totally different. The problems were mal adaptive, homesick, and recreation
