      THE CORRELATION BETWEEN STUDENTS’ ATTITUDE TOWARDS WATCHING ENGLISH TALK SHOW VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE AND THEIR LISTENING ABILITY AT EED OF UMY BATCH 2015

      Abstract
      YouTube is one of video online sites that famous in these days. Digital native students are familiar with this site. There are many video categories in YouTube such as English talk show videos. This research aims to find the students’ attitude towards watching English talk show videos on YouTube, students’ listening ability and the correlation between students’ attitude towards watching English talk show videos on YouTube and their listening ability. Data were collected from 51 students from two classes of Listening and Speaking for Academic Purpose in EED UMY. The researcher used 15 statements questionnaire to find students’ attitude towards watching English talk show videos on YouTube. The researcher also used listening score to measure students’ listening ability. The data was analyzed using descriptive analysis processed in SPSS version 22. Result shows that students’ attitude was in the good level (3.13) and students’ listening ability was in the very good level (score of 83). The p-value is 0.157 and the correlation between students’ attitude and listening ability is r=0.201 (sig 2-tailed) meaning that this research produce null hypothesis or Ha was rejected. To sum up, there is no correlation between students’ attitude towards watching English talk show videos on YouTube and their listening ability at EED of UMY batch 2015.
