EFEKTIFITAS GEL EKSTRAK DAUN PEPAYA (Carica papaya) 75% TERHADAP PENYEMBUHAN LUKA AKIBAT BAHAN BLEACHING (DITINJAU DARI DIAMETER LUKA DAN JUMLAH SEL FIBROBLAS)
Abstract
Hydrogen peroxide ( H2O2 ) is a strong oxidizing agent that is known as an effective tooth bleaching material. Hydrogen peroxide as the bleaching material can cause injury in the gingiva. Wound healing influenced by the ability of cells to regenerate to restore continuity and network functions , one of the cells involved are fibroblasts. Papaya leaves contain active compounds that are useful as an alternative medicine are flavonoids, saponins and alkaloids that play a role in wound healing. Research Objectives : This research aims to determine the effectiveness of papaya leaves extract gel to increase the number of fibroblasts and decrease the diameter in the process of wound healing causes by bleaching materials on male rats.
Research methods : The research design was purely experimental in vivo. The subject of this research was 33 male rats that had been given to injury in the mandibular gingiva using hydrogen peroxide 35%. The animals were divided into three treatment groups. The first group is (Kenalog) as a positive control, the second group (Papaya leaves extract gel 75%), the third group is (Aquades) as a negative control. Gingival wound of the rats every day given the appropriate treatment group. The rats taken randomly from each group on days 1 , 3 , 5 and 7 to measure the diameter of the wound and decapitation ( cutting ) of the jaw. The preparat of tool was colored by HE. Histological analysis to count the number of fibroblasts was performed. Data analysis was using the Shapiro Wilk normality test, and the it was tested by using the hypothesis One Way Anova, and advanced testing with Least Significant Differences. Results : There are two results in this research which is the number of fibroblast cells and wound diameter. Shapiro Wilk normality test results obtained significance value ( p > 0.05 ) , indicating that the data has a normal distribution of data . One Way Anova test results obtained significance value ( p < 0.05 ) , so that there is a difference among the three treatment groups, the LSD test results in group I and II were not significant and the significant values in group III . Conclusion : The provision of papaya leaves extract gel concentrations of 75 % effective effective to increase the number of fibroblasts and decrease the diameter of the wound in process of wound healing causes by bleaching materials in male rats( p < 0.05 ) .
