PENGARUH VARIASI JARAK PENEMBAKAN SHOT PEENING TERHADAP STRUKTUR MIKRO, KEKASARAN PERMUKAAN DAN KEKERASAN MATERIAL BIOMEDIK PLAT PENYAMBUNG TULANG STAINLESS STEEL AISI-304
Abstract
Implantation is the attempt to repair or replace any part of the body that are less functional biomaterial. SS-304 is one material that has been used as implant materials. Advantages of SS-304, among others, corrosion resistant, easily molded, lightweight, cheap, plentiful and easy to obtain in the market. But, before the implants used to do repairs its material properties. Shot peening is one method of treatment to improve the characteristics of the material. The purpose of this research is to know the influence of shooting distance of shot peening on microstructure, surface roughness, hardness and thickness of SS-304 bone plate biomedical material.
Shot peening treatment performed using 6 bar spraying pressure,10 minutes duration shooting, 900 angle spraying, material shoot of 0.4 mm steel balls diameter. Variations of shooting distance is 80 mm, 90 mm, 100 mm, 110 mm, and 120 mm. Specimen of AISI-304 stainless steel made with dimensions of 20x15 mm with a thickness of 4 mm. result of shot peening are characterized include microstructure, surface roughness and hardness.
Appointment of research results that treatment shot peening can modify grain microstructure becomes more smooth. Increased surface roughness that is shooting at a distance of 80 mm reach 2.16 μm, 90 mm reach 2.00 μm, distance 100 mm reach 1.95 μm, distance 110 mm reach 2.08 μm, and the distance of 120 mm reach 2.11 μm from a material essentially 0.5 μm. Hardness test results showed the highest hardness changes at a distance of 120 mm with the highest shooting violence reaches 588.2 HVN from material basically around 200 HVN. The test results of the thickness showed reduction in the value of the thickness, thickness reduction occurs at a highest shooting distance is 120 mm that is be 3.682 mm from the material essence of around 3.960 mm.
