      Abstract
      This research aims to determine the cost of farming, reveneu, income, profit, expediency and prospect of melon farming in Karangsewu, Galur, Kulon Progo. Method in this research used analitic descriptive method as technical implementation. This research involved 30 respondens of farmer in Gupit Village and Imorenggo Village determined using simple random sampling. Analisis of data used four indicators of expediency of farming are RC ratio, land pruductivity, capital productivity, and labor productivity. The results showed that the highest costs of melon farming with percentage 51,96% from total cost. The highest implisit cost is the rent of land as much as Rp. 8.895.00,- per farming per season. Explicit cost as much as Rp. 10.609.347,- with percentage 48,04%. The highest explicit cost is cost of fertilizer as much as Rp. 4.473.823,- with percentage 20,25%. Based on analysis of expediency melon farming of sand beach land showed the value of RC ratio is 1,76. In addition, the land productivity is higher than the rent of land, the capital productivity is higher than the capital interest, and the labor productivity is higher than the cost of labor. Therefore, it can be concluded that the melon farming of sand beach land in Karagsewu, Galur, Kulon Progo is worthy to cultivated and developed.
