      Abstract
      The streaming radio is one of type of online media that are using internet technology, the streaming radio is the development of conventional electronic media, namely radio. The concept of streaming radio is similar to the conventional radio, the difference was only found in licensing and medium. The method of preaching that is done in UMY mosque is using face to face method. This propaganda method is less effective because of the wider community especially the UMY community can not receive the broadcast of religious sciences maximally. The problem above can be reduced with the implementation of online propaganda radio that is using streaming audio technology. Because the method of receiving religious sciences can be coupled with the implementation of online propaganda radio, society especially UMY community, can be eased to receive the religious sciences with their streaming radio that can be accessed via computer or mobile device that is connected to the Internet without the constraints of distance, weather and time. To implement the streaming radio is needed a test to get the right setting so that the sound produced and bandwidth usage can be maximized. From the experiments, it was found that the sample rate does not affect the quality of sound produced. The streaming radio with the encoder settings of 320 kbps has the best quality sound compared with the encoder settings of 128 kbps and 48 kbps. But the encoder setting of 48 kbps is selected as the most appropriate arrangement through the throughput rating, maximum user, the file size assessment and the subjective assessment that has done. From the observation result can be concluded that the greater the encoder setting the greater the throughput obtained. In the delay observation, it was found the conclusion of streaming radio that can already be categorized meet the good QoS with an average of 50ms. It can be concluded that streaming radio could have been implemented and can be used in accordance with the purpose of research, so that the public is able to acquire religious knowledge to the maximum, especially the academicians of UMY.
