      Abstract
Casting is one of the oldest part of industry production technique known. Until now, casting is still used by humans to support the industrial production and industry activities in which its development is keep increasing. Numerous metal casting industry is rising because of this simple and having-a-bright-future technique in the metal casting industry. In this study, the researcher use a piston-shape casting as the pattern. The advantages by using casting is because it is easier to create complex shapes. In making this piston recycled, includes several stages of working and testing processes. Among the processes are patterns planning, preparation of raw materials, pattern making, selection of molding sand, molding manufacturing with (Carbondioxide) gas, aluminum smelting, pouring the molten metal, recovering the result of the casting and final process. Analysis of the worn-out testing shows the genuine part piston has a stronger worn-out resistance average with 2,284 mm2/kg than imitation piston with 3,417 mm2/kg and the piston recycled is 6,881 mm2/kg. The results of composition testing on imitation piston showing that it composed by 93.93% Aluminium, while the genuine part and imitation piston is below the average with as low as 82.84% and 84.63%. In the micro-structural testing, the genuine part and imitation piston having a microstructure which are better than piston recycled.
