HUBUNGAN ANTARA FAKTOR DEMOGRAFI DENGAN DEPRESI PADA PENDERITA RIWAYAT STROKE DI KABUPATEN GUNUNGKIDUL DIY
Abstract
Stroke is one of the many diseases that cause disability and death in the world and is the No. 3 killer in Indonesia. Stroke is a disease that attacks the brain, but a stroke give effect to the whole body, so people are not powerless physically and mentally then leads to feelings of depression. Depression can also be influenced by demographic factors that include gender, age, education, occupation and marital status. Therefore, research on the relationship between demographic factors with depression in patients with a history of stroke in Gunung Kidul Regency DIY is very important to do.
Method: This study is a non-experimental with cross sectional approach. As 36 history of stroke’s patients are measured the depression score using a Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) questionnaire. Purposive sampling technique is used so that we got 36 patient as samples. Then the data will be analyzed using chi-square test.
Result: From 36 samples in this study, it was found that stroke’s patients history had 61,1% normal or minimal depression, 22,2% had mild depression, 8,3% had moderate depression and 8,3% had severe depression. The results of chi-square test showed that demographic factors (gender; age group; education level; occupation and marital status) is not associated with depression, with p value= 0,952; 0,789; 0,502; 0,134 and 0,445 (not significant), where p> 0,05.
Conclusion: In this study, there is no significant relationship between demographic factor with depression in patient with stroke history in Gunungkidul DIY.
