PROSES GATEKEEPING DALAM PRODUKSI PROGRAM RELIGI DI MEDIA TELEVISI SWASTA NASIONAL (Studi Kasus Program Mamah dan Aa Beraksi Indosiar Tahun 2016)
Abstract
The many numbers of religious programs in national private television does not
guarantee the programs’ quality yet it only guarantees the need of programming.
Through the surveys of religious programs conducted by the Indonesian broadcasting
commission (KPI) during the period of March to December 2015, it states that the
program entitled Mamah and Aa Beraksiin Indosiar is one of the religious programs
that is qualified by reaching the program quality index of 4.05 to 4.35 out of 5. The
quality of a religious program gained from some stages that are the stage of Preproduction,
Production, and Post-production. Each stage has the role of the production
team to be able to process the content by modifying and adding the message of dakwah
(Islamic preaching) inside the program. Besides, it can also stop an information and
does not “open the gate” of the information spread.
The researcher conducted a research on the program entitled Mamah and Aa
Beraksi in Indosiar related to the production process of religious programs in national
private television media as well as the gate keeping process in the production of
religious programs in the mentioned national private television media. This research
was conducted through descriptive qualitative approach using the observation data
collecting technique, deep interview, discussion, and documentary. The study in this
research is the production process and Westley and Maclean gate keeping process in the
religious program entitled Mamah and Aa Beraksi in 2016. From the research process, it
is known that the production program of Mamah and Aa Beraksi in Indosiar has two
types of production which are live and video tapping through three production stages;
Pre-production, Production, and Post-production. In these three stages, there is the gate
keeping process as observed using the The Advocacy Role, The Channel Role, and The
Behavioral Role stated by Westley and Maclean. The conclusion of this research is the
production process of Mamah and Aa Beraksi in Indosiar is found out though there is a
missing process which is The Presenting Proposal. The gate keeping process of the
production of Mamah and Aa Beraksi program is also found through three studies; The
Advocacy Role, The Channel Role, and The Behavioral Role.
