dc.description.abstract | he use of pronoun in the writing is definitely essential in order to avoid miscommunication and ambiguous meaning. This research aims to analyze and find the error in the use of pronoun in the students’ writing at Language Training Center (LTC) Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). The researcher collected 25 documents of essay writings International Relation major who are taking Essay writing regular class which were obtained directly from the instructor. The research adapted qualitative research design and the researcher used descriptive analysis to analyze and delivered the data. The researcher limited the study only on the use of personal pronoun case. Corder (1982) suggested that there were four steps method of analysis, namely: determining the data (Language Corpus), identifying the errors, classifying the errors, and explaining the errors. The data collection was processed using Simple Concordance Program (SCP) 4.09 software. The researcher retyped the documents and input them in SCP 4.09 software. Those data then were sorted into sentences using 18 pronouns as the keyword, namely I, me, my, you, your, he, his, him, she, her, it, its, they, their, them, we, our, and us. Afterward, the researcher identified the error in the sentence that had been processed in the SCP 4.09 software. The researcher took the sentences which contained errors and left the correct sentences. The sentences that had been identified were classified into categories based on the error that occurred. Lastly, the researcher explained the result of the data analysis. The finding of the research revealed that there were four errors occurred in the participants’ essay writing related to the use of pronoun, namely Misformation in Singular and plural pronoun reference agreement, Error in pronoun antecedence agreement, Error on the use of its and it’s, Error on the use of subject and object case. | en_US |
