dc.description.abstractThere are many media that can be used by students in learning English, and one of them is video. Video is considered to be interesting and helpful teaching and learning media since it involves both audio and visual. This research aims to reveal the students’ perception on the use of video as teaching media. The researcher was interested to investigate the advantages and problems in using video as teaching media in the classroom. This research used descriptive qualitative research design. Therewith, the interview was employed to collect the data. The researcher used snowball technique to choose the participants for this research. This research was conducted at English Education Department of UMY batch 2013 with four participants. The findings of this research showed that using video as teaching media can make the students feel happier and enthusiastic in learning because they think that video is enjoyable. On the other hand, participant stated that video as teaching media make them not sleepy in classroom because the video was attractive. Besides that, there are some problems in applying video as teaching media. Some of them are the technical problems on the projector and internet connection, problems on video content and duration, and the problems on lecturers’ classroom management.en_US
