dc.description.abstractMagelang Road which is one of the primary arterial road link is the link of D.I. Yogyakarta with Central Java Province with high mobility level. Because of frequent accidents on this road, it is necessary to analyze the causes of traffic accidents. A road safety audit is needed to identify high-risk situations or potential accidents. Based on the background and problems above, the research objectives are: 1. identify the causes of accidents in the area. 2. evaluate the state of road geometry present in the area. 3. audit or analyze the cause of traffic accidents on the road. 4. make recommendations for improvement. The characteristics of traffic accidents and the highest number of casualties suffered minor injuries 128 people. Factors causing most accidents are human factors as much as 105 events. Based on the incident case process, the most frequent type of occurrence is the KDK type (Accident Without Movement Turning Two Vehicles) as many as 73 events. Based on the type of collision, the characteristics that many occur is Ss (Sideswipe) that is as many as 47 cases. The most vehicle types involved in the accident are 152 motorcycles. Based on the sex of the accident involved are men as many as 85 people. Based on accidents every kilometers in the kilometers 10-11 that is as much as 54 events. Based on the time most events in the afternoon that is as many as 46 events. Based on the age of most casualty victims ie age 26-35 years as many as 43 people. Stopping distance on the road is not safe because the distance stop spot speed (operational) that is equal to 48.89 m and 30.11 m smaller than the stopping distance of the plan that is equal to 88.94 m. Visibility perspective is not safe because the visibility of spot speed (operational) that is equal to 180,1 m and 157,61 m smaller than the viewing distance of plan prepared that is equal to 342,738 men_US
