Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) is an atherosclerosis occurs in upper and lower limbE It is predicted that prevalence of PAD in age older than 55 years old reaches 16% and even the asymptomatic PAD has been estimated until 20% of adult population. Smoking is a risk factor for PAD. Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) is a test tool that used to predict the prevalence of PAD event. This research meant to compares the ABI score in smoker and non smoker and how it influences PAD. Samples are 30 elderly (age 65 y.oO people with normal Body Mass Index (BMI), the score of BMI taken from body weight and height measurement. Samples are divided into two groups based on given questioners. Each group Consists of 15 elderly smokers and 15 elderly non smokers. All of samples are going to be measured their anide and brachial blood pressure to calculate the ABI score. Based on analytic test ofABI score on smoker and non smoker using Independent Sample T-test, shows that there is no statistic significant (p>O,5) comparison among those two groups. So that both of these group have no risk of PAD.en_US
