HUBUNGAN ANTARA JENIS KANDIDIASIS DENGAN KARAKTERISTIK DEMOGRAFI DI RS PKU MUHAMMADIYAH GAMPING YOGYAKARTA
Abstract
Background : Candidiasis is a group of infections caused by Candida albicans and other species in the genus of Candida that can invade hair, skin, nails, mucous membranes, and systemic. In Indonesia, cutaneous candidiasis is in the third of dermatomycoses insidence, but in several cities, such as Makasar, Medan and Denpasar, it is in the first of dermatomycoses insidence. Candidiasis infection caused by a variety of predisposing factors, such as local skin conditions, nutritional status, changes in physiological status (age and pregnancy in women), systemic disease, iatrogenic causes, and job. The aim of this study is to know the relation between the type of candidiasis with the demographic characteristics at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Yogyakarta Hospital.
Method : Cross-sectional study was conducted on 89 candidiasis patients. Demographic information and diagnosis of patients were documented. Analysis of the data used chi-square test and its alternative test to see the relation between the mucosal and cutaneous candidiasis with the demographic characteristic.
Result : There are 89 cases of candidiasis from 3.430 of skin and venereal cases (2,6%). Cutaneous candidiasis is the most frequent case among all candidiasis type (75,3%). The largest age group is 0-5 years old (42,7%) with p value=0,003; the most gender is female (82%) with p value=0,006; private employee is the most frequent job (21,3%) with p value=0,003.
Conclusions : It was proved that there was a relation between type of candidiasis with the age, gender, and job of patient at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Yogyakarta Hospital.
