| dc.description | This research analyzed one story of digital comic in LINE webtoon by the tittle “Yuri”, which focused on homosexual identity. This comic tell a story about high school student named “Yuri”, and he is one of otome game’s fan. His friend say that his fondness (he is) is “unique” because Yuri loves to watch otome game, a game for female audience.
This research aims to know and explain how homosexual identity shown and represented in webtoon “Yuri”. And also to expose meaning and symbols depicted in LINE webtoon which enterprised by NAVER, one of the biggest internet company in South Korea. Roland Barthes semiotic analysis used as the methodology in this research to analyze how meaning is not a singular (has one meaning), but there is another hidden meaning behind, and researcher also connected those meaning with myths.
The main point of this research, shows that in the middle of society, homosexual not always have a negative image, but there is another meaning which digital comic convey soft campaign that homosexual not always responded by negative, but understanding them together, because in one side homosexual have a difficulty to “coming out” although to their close friend. And in another side, homosexual too represented as an individual who have a difficulty to “coming out” and no self confident with their different sexual orientation. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Penelitian ini menganalisis salah satu kisah komik digital LINE webtoon yang berjudul “Yuri” dengan fokus analisis pada identitas homoseksual. Komik ini bercerita tentang Yuri yang merupakan seorang murid SMA penggemar otome game. Karena ia memiliki kesukaannya terhadap otome game, ia dianggap “unik” oleh teman-temannya, karena menyukai game yang ditujukan oleh audiens perempuan.
Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui dan menjelaskan bagaimana identitas homoseksual direpresentasikan dalam webtoon berjudul “Yuri”, serta membongkar makna dan simbol-simbol yang digambarkan dalam komik digital yang dinaungi oleh perusahaan internet terbesar di Korea Selatan, NAVER. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan analisis semiotika Roland Barthes yang digunakan untuk menganalisis bagaimana makna tidak berbentuk tunggal atau satu, melainkan ada makna lain yang tersembunyi di baliknya dan peneliti juga menghubungkan dengan mitos yang berkaitan.
Hal yang paling penting dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menemukan bagaimana homoseksual digambarkan dengan tidak selalu negatif, tetapi ada makna lain yang ingin disampaikan oleh komik digital yaitu soft campaign bahwa homoseksual tidak selalu disikapi secara negatif melainkan bersama-sama merangkul dan saling memahami, karena di sisi lain mereka juga mempunyai kesulitan dalam “coming out” sekalipun kepada teman terdekatnya. Di satu sisi, homoseksual juga direpresentasikan sebagai individu yang sulit untuk membuka diri dan tidak percaya diri akan orientasi seksualnya yang berbeda. | en_US |
