      Abstract
      Background : The prevalence of central obesity among people aged ≥15 years increased by 7,8%. Central obesity can cause various diseases, such as diabetes melitus type 2, dyslipidemia, hypertension, cardioascular, cancer, sleep apnea, metabolic syndrome. Environments with high levels of stressors related to central obesity associated with religiousity factor. But the results of evidences are less consistent and contradictions. It encourages researchers to find out how the correlation between religiousity and psychological status with central obesity in medical student. Method : Cross-sectional study using a random sample of 130 medical students of UMY. Level of religiousity measured by a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. Central obesity is determined by abdominal circumference in male ≥90 and ≥80 in female. Other independent variable is measured by Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS 21). Multivariate analysis using logistic regression statistical methods. Results : The prevalence of central obesity in medical student of UMY is 23.1%. Social demographic characteristics that related to central obesity in female students is a family history of obesity (OR= 17,426; 95%CI: 2,636-115,217). Independent variables that related to central obesity in male students is the level of religiousity with a negative correlation direction (B= -3,570; OR=0,028; 95%CI: 0,001-0,734), and anxiety in female student. Conclusion : Central obesity is related to level of religiosity negatively in male student. Central obesity is positively related with anxiety and a family history of obesity in female student.
