dc.descriptionPenelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh: (1) banyaknya kasus kenakalan remaja, dan (2) lingkungan sekolah menjadi salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi perilaku siswa (remaja). Guru bimbingan dan konseling (BK) memiliki tugas yang sangat penting yaitu mengoptimalkan perkembangan siswa-siswi baik secara akademis, psikologis, dan sosial. Perkembangan tersebut mencakup komponen utama kecerdasan emosional yaitu mengenali emosi diri, mengelola emosi, memotivasi diri sendiri, mengenali emosi orang lain, dan membina hubungan. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui strategi guru BK dalam mengembangkan kecerdasan emosional siswa kelas IX di SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, pengamatan, dan dokumen. Hasil penelitian: (1) kecerdasan emosional kelas IX umumnya sudah baik akan tetapi masih terdapat beberapa siswa yang memiliki kecerdasan emosional kurang sehingga masih perlu mendapatkan bimbingan, (2) guru BK memberikan strategi khusus antara lain mengklasifikasi kelas sesuai karakter siswa, menjadi pendengar yang baik, memberi penguatan dengan nilai-nilai Islam dan lain sebagainya, (3) terdapat faktor pendukung di antaranya program pembiasaan, kerjasama dengan lembaga lain, kegiatan ekstrakurikuler. Faktor penghambat meliputi orang tua yang kurang memahami aspek psikologis anak dan guru yang kurang memahami cara mendidik serta sistem pembelajaran yang sesuai untuk siswaen_US
dc.description.abstractThe backgrounds of this research are: (1) the high number of juvenile delinquency, and (2) school environment has become one influencing factor for students behavior (teens). Counseling Guidance (BK) teacher has significant duty to optimize male and female students development in academics, psychology, and social. Those developments cover the main component of emotional quotient such as recognizing self-emotion, managing emotion, self-motivation, recognizing others’ emotion, and building relationship. This research is aimed at identifying the strategy employed by counseling guidance teacher in developing emotional quotient of class IX students at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. The researcher used qualitative approach in which data was compiled through in-depth interview, observation and document. Research results: (1) the emotional quotient of class IX students has generally been good although there are some male-female students who are lacking of emotional quotient so as still need to be given counseling, (2) counseling guidance teacher give specific strategy among others classify the class according to the character student, be a good listener, giving strength with Islamic values, and others, (3) there are supporting factors among them habituation program, cooperation with other institutions, extracurricular activities. Obstacle factors is parents who lack understanding of the child’s psychological aspects and teachers who lack understanding how to educate and learning system appropriate for students.en_US
