The majority of Indonesian embrace Islam as their religion, and therefore have guidance in social functions such as Zakat, Infaq, Shadaqah and Wakaf (ZISWAF) which with proper organization will help the nation addressing the issue of poverty. However, the reality is quite different; there is still a big number of Indonesian living under poverty threshold. The implementation of Zakat, Infaq, Shadaqah, in Islam have become one solution to overcome the issue; by optimizing the role of Baitul Maal wa Tamwil in empowering society. This research is aimed at describing the implementation of Baitul Maal wa Tamwil (BMT) function in empowering society. The method used in the research was qualitative, that was a field research in which its data was gathered from field activities such as interview, observation, and supporting documents to describe the collection and distribution of Zakat, Infaq, Shadaqah. Technique used to analyze data was Miles and Huberman model whereas source triangulation and triangulation technique were used to check the data validity. The result indicated that society empowerment program conducted by BMT Bina Ihsanul Fikri are based on various programs divided into several fields. The society empowerment conducted by BMT Bina Ihsanul Fikri has so far focused on empowerment in term of social and religion. In economics, Baitul Maal Indonesia BMT Bina Ihsanul Fikri has 3 business groups and several individual business guided by Baitul Maal. The business guided by Baitul Maal Indonesia BMT Bina Ihsanul Fikri can perform well, except to the one at Ledok Timoho which produces Melin soap.
