EVALUASI KESESUAIAN LAHAN UNTUK TANAMAN DURIAN (Durio zibhethinus Murr.) DI KECAMATAN TONJONG KABUPATEN BREBES
Abstract
This study aims to evaluate and determine the suitability of land for durian
(Durio zibhetinus Murr.) crops in Tonjong Sub-district of Brebes Regency,
Central Java. Research activities on land suitability evaluation for durian crop
(Durio zibhetinus Murr.) were conducted in Tonjong Sub-district of Brebes
Regency, Central Java. Soil analysis was conducted at Soil Laboratory of
University of Muhammadiyah and Research Institute of Land and Environment
(Balingtan) Pati with research time starting from May 2017 to September 2017.
The research was conducted by using observation method to collect primary
data and secondary data. Primary data is obtained through field observation and
laboratory to know the description of land characteristic in Tonjong District,
while secondary data is supporting research data obtained through related office.
The classification of the suitability of durian crop fields is based on FAO method
(1976).
The result shows that Tonjong Sub-district has an actual land suitability
class for durian plants in the form of S3 or marginally suitable according to some
limiting factors such as Oxygen (Drainage) availability, Nutritional Retention (Corganic),
and Available Nutrient (N, P, K). Improvement efforts need to be made
to convert the actual land suitability class into potential by creating irrigation
channels, adding organic materials, and fertilizing.
