Abstract
Rice is the second most important food crop in the world to be used as a
source of food after wheat, and is expected to increase 70% in the future. Subang
Regency is the third largest rice production center in West Java. One of the rice
production centers in Subang Regency is located in Blanakan District. The
development of agriculture for rice crops in Subang Regency is now being
directed to marginal land as a result of the decreasing of fertile land, land which
in the mean is swamp land affected by sea water. This research aims to establish
the characteristics of saline land for rice cultivation and to evaluate the suitability
level of saline for rice cultivation in the Tanjung Tiga village, Blanakan district,
Subang Regency.
This research was conducted by survey method to get primary data and
secondary data . Primary data includes all the soil characteristics information
and its determination in the laboratory, while secondary data includes all
supporting information obtained from local government agencies.
The results showed that rice fields in Tanjung Tiga Village Blanakan
districts have clay texture, effective deep soil depth, have low to medium exchange
cation capacity, very low to low saturation, neutral pH, moderate C-Organic,
have N total low, medium P2O5 and low to moderate K2O. Land suitability at
unit level included into S3w-1 class on all three soil samples with rainfall limiting
factor. The suitability of potential land of unit level including S2 after
improvement of irrigation and drainage channel and calculation of planting time
on rice cultivation in rice field of Desa Tanjung Tiga Blanakan Subdistrict.
