At the beginning of the year 2017 there was an educational incident in Indonesia especially in Yogyakarta caused by seniors violence against juniors leading to death of three students during the Basic Training of Mahasiswa Pecinta Alam in Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII). This incident was reported intensifely by Kedaulatan Rakyat and Tribun Jogja newspaper. This study aims to determine and find differences in framing the news from the Kedaulatan Rakyat and Tribun Jogja about the death of Mapala UII members and any factors that affect the difference. This qualitative research uses framing analysis model of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki. In analyzing it using four models, they are syntactic, script, thematic, and rhetorical structures which can unravel in detail how media define the influential reality in the formation of media frames related to news and will produce conclusions with different results. The result of this research showed that Kedaulatan Rakyat is influenced by the level of organization and the level of extramedia. There is an element of media ownership that influences with careful selection of article titles, news space that is not used as headline news and also the selected source, does not choose the source of the victims who experienced violence. The other news that framed by Tribun Jogja is influenced by the media routine that makes the topic of that case always be the headline of hot news and more information that take side from the victictims and family.
