HUBUNGAN TINEA KORPORIS DAN DIABETES MELITUS TIPE 2 DI RS PKU KOTA MUHAMMADIYAH YOGYAKARTA
Abstract
Background: Tinea corporis is an superficial dermatophyte infection in a form of lesion that can be either inflammation or non-inflammation in the skin except for the area in the scalp, genital, palm, and the sole of the feet. In patient with diabetes mellitus type 2, the amount of glucose on skin can reach 69-71% compare to people with normal glucose level which only range up to 55% from their blood glucose. Diabetes mellitus type 2 can weaken the host immune process on skin and supply high glucose for dermatophyte to grow well.
Aim: To find out the correlation between diabetes mellitus type 2 patient with tinea corporis at PKU Kota Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta hospital.
Methods: Observational research with analytic quantitative method (cross-sectional). Sample use in this research is medical record taken from PKU Kota Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta hospital, in medical record room from February-march 2017. Sample consist of 150 patient with 75 tinea corporis with diabetes mellitus type 2 patient and 75 dermatitis contact irritant with diabetes mellitus type 2 patient. Hypothesis analysis in this research use contingency coefficient to find the correlation between tinea corporis and diabetes mellitus type 2. SPSS ver.20.0 is use for hypothesis analysis.
Results: Hypothesis analysis with coefficient contingency correlate if p value > 0.05. In this research between tinea corporis and diabetes mellitus type 2 result show p value = 0.405 as the main variable. While result show p value in dermatitis contact irritant and diabetes mellitus type 2 = 0.405 as control variable. The conclusion is there is no correlation between diabetes mellitus type 2 with tinea corporis.
