This research aims to analyze the leading sectors in the Regency of Kulon Progo. The analysis is done by comparing the GDRP of Kulon Progo on the basis of Constant Prices in 2010 and GDRP of DIY on the basis of Constant Prices in 2010. The model in this research are Model of the Growth Ratio (MRP), Shift-Share, Location Quotient (LQ), Overlay, and Klassen Typology. Based on the result of the analysis, economic sector which become the base economic sector and have competitive advantage and specialize in Kulon Progo Regency are Wholesale and Retail Trade; Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles sector; Mining and Quarrying sector. The economic sector that is driving the development and economic growth in Kulon Progo Regency during 2012 to 2016 are Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; Mining and Quarrying; Wholesale and Retail Trade; Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles; Public Administration and Defence; Compulsory Social Security. Regional Economic Development can be Increased by prioritizing Wholesale and Retail Trade; Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles sector; Mining and Quarrying sector.
