Abstract
This research tries to illustrate the value conflict between China and the West in view of the development of economic globalization which tend to be dominated by Western thought. The infiltration of Western values in economic globalization is evident from the principle of capitalism used in free markets and global economic institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank and World Trade Organization (WTO). This is contrary to China's principle of "Socialism with Chinese Characteristics", which is a combination of Confucianism and Socialism. Using the constructivist view by Christian Reus-Smith, Alexander Wendt, and Peter Kazhekstein, China has its own interpretation in response to Western-style economic globalization that is influenced by two determinants of the influence of domestic values and the international context. Both determinants are encouraging China to create a China-style globalization on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics as outlined in the policy of community of common destiny.
