dc.description.abstractThis research aims to analyze about the implementation of Sister Province Cooperation between Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia and Kyoto Prefecture, Japan on cultural sector. Sister Province Cooperation between Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia and Kyoto Prefecture, Japan and what is the sector including in Sister Province Cooperation between Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia and Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. This cooperation influenced by personal relation between Governor of Special Region of Yogyakarta and Governor of Kyoto Prefecture when Governor of Kyoto Prefecture was allocated in Special Region of Yogyakarta during World War II also because of the similarity they have in several conditions. Research question of this research are “How is the implementation of Sister Province Cooperation between Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia and Kyoto Prefecture, Japan on cultural sector?” and “What is the work program in Sister Province Cooperation between Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia and Kyoto Prefecture, Japan?”. This research used a qualitative research. The data collection technique used interview and literature review. In this research, as the data resources, the respondent chosen are those which are considered appropriate and can find out the problems that will be studied to be necessary data. The location of research is Special Region of Yogyakarta. The respondents are International Cooperation Division, Cooperation Agency and Capital Investment DIY and Planning Division, Cultural Agency DIY. The results shows that Sister Province Cooperation between Special Region of Yogyakarta and Kyoto Prefecture was influenced by personal relation between Kyoto Governor (Mr Yukio Hayashida) and Yogyakarta Governor (Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX). Mr Yukio Hayashida was allocated in Yogyakarta during World War II and conducted good relations with Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX. Then in July 16, 1985 Special Region of Yogyakarta and Kyoto Prefecture agreed to conduct Friendly Province – Prefecture relations that last forever. This agreement undersigned by Paku Alam VIII and Governor of Kyoto Prefecture, Mr. Yukio Hayashida. The work program in Sister Province Cooperation between Yogyakarta and Kyoto are art and culture, education and science technology, tourism promotion, industry, and others. The most interesting subject from the cooperation from Yogyakarta and Kyoto is their similarity in several things, such as Yogyakarta have Batik while Kyoto have Nishijin or traditional woven fabric from Kyoto. Also in cultural destination, both of these province are become the national cultural destination in their country. The recommendations for the implementers of this cooperation is to improve coordination inside Cultural Agency also coordination among agency in order to give better performance of Sister Province Cooperation between Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia and Kyoto Prefecture, Japan on cultural sector.en_US
