This study aims to determine the economic potential in Kulon Progo Regency. The data used in this research is GDRP of Kulon Progo Regency and Province of DIY based on 2010 constant price based on 2012-2016 data. Researchers used Location Quotient (LQ), Shift-share, Growth Ratio (MRP), Overlay, Klassen Typology and SWOT. The results of this analysis indicate that the leading sectors of Kulon Progo Regency during the study period consist of (1) agriculture, forestry and fishery sectors, (2) mining and quarrying sectors, (3) large and retail trade sectors; car and motorcycle repairs, (4) government administration, defense and compulsory social services and (5) other service sectors. The sector is the preferred to be developed to encourage the regional economy of Kulon Progo Regency.
